Today marks the 75th birthday of Uncle Arthur Laquedem, a cheerful old fellow with the twinkling eye and love of wordplay characteristic of the Laquedem clan. I had thought about sending my aunt a copy of the Bud Clark poster entitled "Expose Yourself to Art," but on sober reflection decided to send flowers instead.

I did think about it, as I have on past birthdays, but I’m glad I didn’t. Uncle Arthur’s children both wrote me to say how pleased he was with the flowers and how much he appreciates my remembering, something that wouldn’t have happened — at least not in the same friendly tone — if I’d sent the poster.
