I saw the same guy this morning. I thought about getting off the bus and talking to the guy and taking a picture of the sign and blogging about it. But I was late to a meeting, so I didn’t. Which I suppose says a lot about why homelessness persists; everyone thinks it’s bad, but everyone’s always running late for a meeting, or a child’s soccer game, or a new episode of a favorite show. It’s always something.
It should not engender pity . . . but a disquieting feeling. An economist with legal training and a brokers license could do some real damage to the bubble(s) upon which our sense of personal financial security rests.

“If I lived here I’d be home by now” is practically my personal motto, true wherever I go and quite a profound thought, if one meditates on it frequently … as I do.
