For many years I’ve celebrated Thanksgiving with the Aunt of the Left and a fleet of sisters, cousins, and aunts, and many other relatives.  This year the Aunt of the Left and her husband, perhaps weary of the effort that goes with hosting Thanksgiving for the dozens, told us that we would be welcome to use their house for the Big Dinner, but they would be away for some holiday peace and quiet.
