Our man in New Mexico follows up with more detail about Ralph Nader being kept off the New Mexico ballot. The New Mexico dispute isn’t about petition signatures. Judge Wendy York ruled (story from the Albuquerque News-Journal here) that Mr. Nader can’t appear on the New Mexico ballot as an independent because he’s running in other states under a party label.
Albuquerque’s channel 13, KRQE, reported on September 17 (I’ve seen the video, but it’s not on KRQE’s website now) that Judge York had given $1000 to Senator Kerry’s campaign in April, and sent a reporter to her house to ask her about the contribution. The lights were on, but no one answered the door.
